Olivewood Gardens 2012

This week the entire second grade class went to Olivewood Gardens in National City.  This field trip allowed the students to better understand the rural environment.  Since we have been studying different types of communities (rural, suburban, and rural), the students were able to make a connection to what we were studying and the environment in which many people live.  During the field trip, students were able to cook using the fresh produce from the garden, plant seeds, and learn about different parts of the plant.

TCS Participates in Earth Day 2012

For Earth Day, the TCS community took a walking field trip to the beach. The second grade class picked up trash at the north end of Kellogg Park. The students had to separate trash from recyclables. On our way back to campus, Bill, from Yogurt Escape, was so kind and offered the students samples of his yogurt!

Salsa....mmmmmm......

This week in Spanish the students had the opportunity to make salsa with Isabel! Over the last few weeks, the students have been learning about different ingredients. Next, they will learn how to translate a recipe in Spanish.

Biography Presentations

For the last four weeks the students have been working incredibly hard on their biographies. This included researching, note taking, writing a rough draft and final draft, and creating a Keynote presentation to perform in front of parents and peers. Here are a few photos of the students in costume!
