Project Wildlife

This week the second graders were visited by Project Wildlife.  Project Wildlife specializes in helping to educate people on different ways to protect the wildlife around us.  This organization also provides rehabilitation for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife, such as birds, skunks, and raccoons.  The students were introduced to a crow and owl, who have both been with the organization for many years.

Cooking Spanish Rice

In Spanish, the students got to cook with Isabel.  This time they made Spanish rice.  They had to chop up the tomatoes, peppers, and onions themselves.  Finally, the rice was added, mixed and served.  It was delicious!

In science the students had the opportunity to do an egg drop.  They had to surround the egg with material that they thought would keep the egg from breaking when dropped and provide a cushion for the landing.  (It was "Hair Crazy Day").

The Urban Experience!

The second graders took a field trip downtown San Diego to get the urban experience!  We began our journey into Old Town and took the trolley into the city.  From there we ventured into Petco Park and the Gaslamp area.  When exhaustion hit, we enjoyed pizza for lunch.  We also had the opportunity to visit an urban loft and rooftop.  To end the day, the students enjoyed a giant scoop of ice cream!  From there, it was back to the trolley and then TCS.  In all, we had an eventful and wonderful experience enjoying the urban community and lifestyle.
